WASBE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH WIND ORCHESTRA (IYWO)

The WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra (IYWO) is an international ensemble of approximately 50 outstanding young musicians between the ages of 18 to 25.  They are grouped to perform some of  the finest music composed for the wind orchestra medium at each of the biennial conferences of the World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE).

Their conductors are internationally recognised. This year, the IYWO will be conducted by Gerhard Markson (Germany) and Glenn Price (Canada).  The soloist for this concert will be the renowned international percussion soloist Dame Evelyn Glennie (UK). Their programme will include works by Ian Wilson (World premiere Commission sponsored by World Projects) and Joseph Schwantner.

They rehearse daily throughout the week for their performance in the afternoon of  Saturday 14th July 2007, the last day of the conference.

IYWO members can attend ALL concerts and events of this conference.

Interest in the 2007 WASBE International Youth Wind Orchestra has surpassed all previous years with a record number of applications  received. Applications came from all over the world and all  instrumentats were well represented. A truly international quality wind orchestra has been formed...

All places in the IYWO have now been filled!

Offers of places for the 2007 IYWO were emailed to the applicants on 1st February 2007.  


If you applied for the IYWO and have not received any notification, please email iywo2007@hotmail.com stating your full name and instrument and we can arrange to re-send your notification.

Successful candidates must now secure their place by  paying a registration fee of  €120  in the form of a euro money order made payable to WASBE 2007 within two weeks of being accepted as a member of the IYWO. The orchestra will assemble in Killarney,  Ireland on 8th July 2007

FAQ

Is accommodation provided?

Yes, the IYWO members will stay in the Riverside Apartments sleeping 4 people at the conference venue.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for the 7 days of the conference.

What are the costs involved? 

Successful candidates must travel to and from Killarney at their own expense.  There are no other costs for participants ouside the €120 registration fee.

What instruments are provided?

Only pianos and percussion instruments will be provided. Players of all other instruments are responsible for bringing their own instrument(s). The players in the IYWO will be sent their parts in advance of the conference.
